Writerly Web Lingo

If you're a newbie to the query trenches, you'll notice that there's quite a few abbreviations writers use when talking about their WIP (there's one!), especially in the Twitter-verse (which is profoundly useful for aspiring authors - post on that to come).

I decided to compile as many as I could think of as a reference, but if there are any you're seeing that need further clarification, feel free to post them in the comments and I'll do my best to dig up an answer for you.

Here goes:

WIP - Work-In-Progress

MS - Manuscript

CP - Critique Partner

Beta - Beta Reader; Someone who reads your MS and provides feedback

SF/F - Science Fiction and Fantasy genre

NA - New Adult age category

YA - Young Adult age category

MG - Middle Grade age category

MSWL - Manuscript Wish List; often seen on agent blogs/twitter accounts to clue in aspiring authors as to what they are looking for

I'm sure there are loads more, but this is what I could come up with so far. I'll add more as they come up!
